The Black Country

The Black Country is located west of the city of Birmingham and is formed from the districts of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.  The name dates back to the mid-nineteenth century where hundreds of foundries and forges filled the sky above with soot, smog and smoke. The Black Country, once known as the industrial heart of England now boasts plenty of historical heritage.
